SIV

New Feature - Who has already voted?

David Ernst - Jan 27, 2026

In smaller, non-governmental elections, communities often want to see who has already voted, so members can remind and encourage each other to participate.

Admins already have access to this information in their Election Management dashboard, but it's not visible to the rest of the community.

SIV now makes it easy to share with voters as well, while continuing to fully preserve ballot privacy—no one can see how anyone voted, and protecting voters' email addresses.

Step-by-step guide to enable this feature:

Given a spreadsheet with one column of display names & another of email addresses:

Voter List

The order does not matter - whether display name first or email first, both work.

Copy the names + email addresses:

Voter List

Paste them in the Add New Voters table & press save:

Voter List

Once you save, you should see them in the table, with a new "display name" column:

Voter List

This also enables a new button "Publish latest Who's Voted list":

Voter List

Click that to publish a new table of the whole Voter list + Who voted so far:

Voter List

This intentionally only publishes display names, not voters' email addresses.

As more votes come in, you'll see the # of published & unpublished voters

Voter List

The published list is intentionally manual, not auto real-time — to protect against subtle privacy risks in the face of quantum computers.

Just click it again whenever you want to update the published list.

That's it 🎉

Once the election has ended and the results are posted, the list of Who's Voted remains on the Election Results page:

Voter List
  • Decrypted votes are sorted by randomly-chosen verification numbers.
  • The Who's Voted list is alphabetical by display name.
  • And Submitted encrypted votes are chronological by submission time.

So none of the orders match, ensuring no linkage, to protect privacy.
